Defining Beauty

This is a documentary being shown within the Global Peace Film Festival, specifically showing at Rollins College. I've started this blog to get discussions flowing and attract an audience to see this moving film. To find a trailer head over to YouTube and type in Defining Beauty. For all the girls out there who think there's limits to beauty, this story will prove you wrong. The documentary follows girls through the journey of Miss Wheelchair America, a new form of beauty pageants. I would love to get some people talking on here about beauty and how it's percieved within American culture. Let's get some topics going....

  1. Although this is inspiring, it speaks to the modern/American definition of beauty that we have to have a pageant specifically wheelchair bound women. Although there are obvious limitations to such a thing, it would be ideal and inspiring to see a pageant where wheelchair bound women and physically uninhibited women can compete together without their physical differences being taken into account when evaluating their beauty inside and out. Thoughts?
